Classifications

The training is split into 5 levels:

Probationer:

The training covers the following topics: The ATC, The RAF, History of Flight, Airmanship 1, Map Reading, Communications, Rifle, and Initial Expedition Training.

First Class:

At this level, Basic Navigation, Principles of Flight and Airmanship II are covered.

Leading:

The cadet will cover Air Navigation and Propulsion.

Senior:

At this level, the cadet covers Air Operations and Airframes in order to attain the level of Staff Part 1.

Staff:

This is an interview with a Wing Staff Officer covering all of the topics learnt previously and information about the organisation of the ATC.

Upon completing the Staff Training, the cadet is at the highest possible classification, and so helps to teach other cadets. This is denoted by the yellow lanyard.
